ThyssenKrupp.C-276, C-2000 and 686 Alloys

Alloy name: ThyssenKrupp.C-276, C-2000 and 686 Alloys
Diagram No.: 229
Type of diagram: TTS
Chemical composition in weight %:
Alloy C-276: 5% Fe, 57% Ni, 16% Cr, 16% Mo, 4% W, PRE:69.
Alloy C-2000: 1% Fe, 57% Ni, 23% Cr, 16% Mo, 1.6% Cu, PRE:74.
Alloy 686: 2% Fe, 57% Ni, 21% Cr, 16% Mo, 7% W, PRE:74.
PRE (Pitting Resistance Equivalent) = % Cr + 3.3(% Mo) + 30N
Alloy group: Nickel-based alloys
Note: Time-Temperature-Sensitization (TTS) chart shows the pitting attack in ASTM G-28B solution on alloys C-276, C-2000 and 686 after sensitization at 1600 F (870 C) to simulate multi-pass welding of thick sections. The pitting was worst in alloy C-276, then C-2000 and alloy 686. Alloy 59 (UNS N06059) did not show any attack except on the stamped area using steel punches as shown in the upper part of the corrosion test coupon.
