TTT in Fig., Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al may form both athermal and isothermal omega. The impacts of precursor omega on alpha precipitation and properties in Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al have been considered previously, and it has been observed that the embrittling effects of omega particles can be minimized by beta grain size refinement. 68 Interestingly, it has also been reported that strengthening through the precipitation of omega instead of alpha retards fatigue crack growth significantly, which was attributed to changes in slip character and reversibility.
