Ti-6Al-4V Alloy

Alloy name: Ti-6Al-4V
Diagram No.: 812
Type of diagram: TTT
Chemical composition in weight %: No data
Alloy group: Titanium-based alloys
Note: Time Temperature Transformation (TTT) diagram (Ahmed and Rack 1998).
The modified Jominy method (ASTM; 1995) was used to study the deviation in the properties of Ti-6Al-4V resulting from different cooling rates applied from the single Beta phase field. The microstructures were analysed using optical and electron microscopy and the results obtained were utilised to design the Alpha Time Temperature Transformation TTT diagram. The study showed that cooling rates above 400 C/s are required for obtaining a fully martensitic microstructure. The schematic representation of TTT diagram is shown in Figure.
