Note: A typical Time-Temperature-Precipitation (TTP) diagram. Reproduced from [5].
One of the most effective graphic representations of solidification behaviour are Time-Temperature-Precipitation (TTP) diagrams (generically called Time- Temperature-Transformation (TTT) for any general phase transformation). A typical TTP diagram is presented in Figure. Using these diagrams, it is possible to predict the time a given phase needs to precipitate at a given temperature. For example, in Figure, it can be seen that the dicalcium silicate phase (Ca2SiO4) will start precipitating after 10 seconds holding time at 1100C, and after 30 seconds at this same temperature, the transformation will be 50% complete.
