Fluorine-free Mould Fluxes

Name: Fluorine-free Mould Fluxes
Diagram No.: 988
Type of diagram: TTT
Chemical composition in weight %: See the table
Group: Slags
Note: TTT diagrams of mould fluxes showing the onset (0.5 vol%) and end (95 vol%) of crystallisation: (a) Sample 1: CaO/SiO2= 0.9; (b) Sample 2: CaO/SiO2=1.0; (c) Sample 3: CaO/SiO2=1.1; (d) Sample 4: CaO/SiO2=1.2; and (e) onset of crystallisation at different CaO/SiO2 ratios.
TTT diagrams of mould fluxes with different CaO/SiO2 ratios are presented in Figs. (a) to (d); Fig. (e) compares the onsets of crystallisation of mould fluxes with different CaO/SiO2 ratios. As CaO/SiO2 ratio increased, the incubation time decreased and the highest crystallisation temperature increased. It is noteworthy that the mould fluxes with CaO/SiO2 = 1.2 started crystallisation before it reached isothermal temperature.
