Baumann's print

Material: Baumann's print
Type: Macro
Method: Chemical etching
Etchant (electrolyte): 100 ml distilled water, 5 ml sulfuric acid 95-97%.
Procedure: Grind sample to grit320 SiC paper. Soak photographic paper with the solution and press firmly onto the sample surface. After approximately 3 min rinse, fix (photo fix), wash, and dry. S-rich regions will turn brown. Better contrast is obtained by etching the sample with Heyn's reagent priot to Baumann print.
Note:  Sulfur print. Unalloyed steels. Sulfide inclusions.
